NEW FREE VOLUNTEER DRAGON WORKSHOP

Everyone is invited to help build an 80 ft. long x 12 ft. tall Giant Dragon Sculpture!

2:30 TO 5:00 PM, Wednesdays & Thursdays
Starting September 7 to Thanksgiving 2022
WHO:  
EVERYONE IS INVITED TO HELP MAKE PARTS OF THE DRAGON!
  • We especially invite those that seldom have opportunities and live on the margins of our community.
  • Designed and Directed by Artist and Teacher, Angela Haseltine Pozzi, the Founder of Washed Ashore, and ReUPit: Art to Save the Earth.
  • ReUPit staff helping in the construction.
  • Experienced teachers help in volunteer workshops.
  • Volunteers will help create parts of the Dragon.
WHAT:  
A Giant Friendly Roadside Dragon! 40 ft. long and 10 ft tall next to Highway 101
  • Created with discarded and repurposed materials including tires, car bumpers, household discards, cans and bottle caps.
  • Workshops require some fine motor skills at various levels. Using hand drills, drill press, wiring, wire twisting, cutting and stringing plastic and aluminum.
WHERE:  
  • Art 101, (7 miles south of Bandon), 47134 Highway 101, Bandon, OR. -    Next to the highway at Art 101, this will be the Dragon’s permanent home.
  • Outdoor workshops until the weather turns cold.
WHY:  
  • To create a sense of pride for those participating.
  • To be a model of inclusiveness on the Southwestern Oregon Coast.
  • Repurposing our lives and repurposing materials go hand in hand.
  • To increase awareness about resourcefulness, conservation, waste reduction and everyone making a difference.
  • To celebrate imagination and creativity.
  • Because everyone loves the idea of a giant dragon!
  • To make an impressive work of art to live at Art 101 for all to see!
HOW:  
  • JUST SHOW UP!
  • Drop-in workshops open every Wednesday and Thursday 2:30-5pm
  • All ages and abilities always welcome to DROP-IN!
  • No appointment or sign up needed, unless groups over 4 or special needs.
  • Call Angela at 360-991 3891 to schedule special needs and group workshops, one week prior to time requested.
  • Located on Highway 101 means public transport busses can stop at Art 101.
  • Everyone is invited, but please bring your own special helpers if there are severe physical or mental health issues and schedule a time so we can have the appropriate activities available.
